// ABOUT //
My name is Maryam Qudus. I am a freelance recording engineer / producer / mixer based out of California. I also write, record and produce music for my solo project DOE EYE.
As a producer / engineer, I have worked with Tune-Yards, Allison Crutchfield, SASAMI, Chaz Bundick Meets The Mattson 2, Magik*Magik, Kronos Quartet and many more.
I have worked on albums and singles that have been released on 4AD, Domino Records, Epitaph Records and Quite Scientific Records.
While studio recording is my primary focus, I have also composed and recorded soundtracks for films, engineered / produced radio podcasts and taught audio engineering at Women’s Audio Mission.
// STUDIOS //
I am a staff engineer at John Vanderslice's Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco / Oakland. I deeply admire JV’s dedication to the art of recording. The gear and instrument list at TT is extensive and inspiring. I love working there!
Outside of Tiny Telephone, I have been lucky enough to have worked at many wonderful recording studios, such as Justin Vernon's April Base Studios, Chris Walla's Hall of Justice, Tucker Martine's Flora Recording & Playback, Fantasy Studios, Women's Audio Mission and many more.
I maintain a small overdub and mix space with Beau Sorenson. We call it Best House. The primary purpose for Best House is to serve our own projects (DOE EYE & Beaunoise) but it works well for pre-production, editing, light overdubs, and mixing.
I am also open to making records in unconventional spaces such as bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, closets, warehouse spaces, churches, etc. I have a small collection of equipment suitable for this and enjoy the challenge and adventure of remote recording.
// RATES //
My day rate is $250 / Day. That includes engineering, producing, playing synthesizers, guitars, coaching you through your vocal takes, singing back-ups and making lots of coffee.
